PRACTICE SPECIALTIES

INDIVIDUAL THERAPY

Therapy works when there is an authentic connection between us. Compassion, listening, and collaboration compose the foundation of that connection. I have immense respect for the human ability to learn and adapt to new situations. When you begin therapy with me, we will work together to identify your goals and what obstacles may be in the way of you reaching them.  I have no preconceived ideas of what you need; we will figure that out together.  I draw on Psychodynamic Theory, Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and a variety of other approaches to meet the needs of my clients.  I specialize in the following areas of therapy:

  • therapy for pre-adolescents and adolescents

  • post-partum transition (for women and men)

  • all facets of navigating the world of the independent school (click here to learn more)

  • social-skills building for children and adults

  • navigating life transitions for adult individuals

  • balancing autonomy and interdependence in young adulthood

  • children and teens with ADHD

  • play therapy (for children ages 5-8)

  • therapeutic groups for children and teens addressing a variety of topics

  • working with anxiety

  • understanding and responding to depression

  • healing through grief and loss

PARENT SUPPORT

Parenting is the most important job there is; it is also the most demanding.  Parents who seek support report feeling less stress and anxiety about their parenting decisions and have a more positive relationship with a co-parent.  I am passionate about supporting parents in the challenging work of raising children in the digital age.  I have a keen understanding of the ways in which media use impacts family life, so I work to help families negotiate the opportunities and risks surrounding digital media use in the home and at school. I can help you with these and many more issues around parenting:

  • getting on the same page when parenting styles differ

  • establishing home routines

  • appropriate support at home for the school-age child

  • setting limits and following through for all ages

  • managing conflicts around social media use and understanding the impact of media

  • all facets of navigating the world of the independent school (click here to learn more)

  • negotiating the transitions to and from grade school, middle school and high school

  • parenting a child with AD/HD, other attentional challenges and learning struggles
